Our approach to the DfE standards

What we commit to.

Clear purpose

A tool for teachers and SENCOs in UK schools, to help adapt lessons for learners with SEND. We will only publish results once our pilots have measured them.

Privacy and data protection

We collect only what we need.
We never ask for pupils' names, dates of birth or photos. Any name or nickname a teacher adds stays on their own device and is never sent to us.
We will not use your data to train AI models.
Before any pilot involves information about learners, we complete a data protection impact assessment and sign a written agreement. Your school stays in control of its pupils' data.

Security

Teachers sign in securely, and we test changes before they reach schools.

Governance

Every pilot starts with a risk assessment. Concerns go to hello@learnofai.ai, and we will share how we approach AI safety with any school that asks.

Built with SENCOs and teachers, who remain in charge of professional judgement.

Honest about scope

Some standards apply to products learners use directly. We assess which apply at each stage and tell schools plainly.

Anything not listed is kept only as long as it is needed. Before any pilot begins, we sign a written pilot agreement and data processing agreement with the school. Our AI service providers process information outside the UK, including in the United States, and the safeguards that apply are set out in each school's data processing agreement. Full details are in our privacy statement.

Data requests.

Email hello@learnofai.ai with the subject "Data request". We reply within one month. Schools and data protection officers can use the same address.
